Foul Weather Gear Foul weather gear
is essential to enable work during
rainfall and other precipitation. This is
an external link to Grundens, a foul
weather gear supplier. Foul weather
gear is important for comfort in mild
weather as well as severe weather.
Some companies may provide foul
weather gear and some suggest that
crews procure their own foul weather
gear. In your selection, consider quality,
geography, comfort, flexibility, safety
and price. What works for the Barent
Sea in November might not be suited
for Miami in the summer.
Galeton Work clothes can consist of
anything from your most comfortable
flannel shirt and broken-in jeans to
mechanic's coveralls. This link is to a
supplier of industrial work clothes.
Some ferry operators may provide
uniforms for certain positions. Other
times, a crew decides on their own
what they will wear..all depending on
the position and the interfacing with
passengers and the policy of the ferry
operator. If overtime work or an
emergency pops up and it means
working in a "roll-up-your-sleeves" kind
of duty, keeping a set of those
disposable paper coveralls in your
locker can come in handy.
